Surely, the last thing on your mind is the garden that is now covered in snow. While the back yard might be anxiously awaiting spring, the front garden has to face up to a challenge. As you know year after year the city council has to sprinkle[…]

  • Fun Outdoor Chores for the Children

Today, children play outside about half as much as their parents did. Instead, they prefer playing highly entertaining computer games, watching television and, in some cases even do their homework. These fun outdoor chores for the children will get them out of the house in no time.

  • When to Plant Trees

Trees do not need a big hole when they are planted, the average hole should be about three times as wide as the root ball and shallower. After you have placed the tree in the ground take a few steps back and make sure the plant is not leaning.

  • The Best Flowers to Grow in Full Sun

The palette of flowers that grow in full sun is very wide. Before you start planting the flowers make a plan on where you are going to put them. Another important thing is to read on the label to which height they will grow in order to plant the sort plants in the front and the taller plant in the back. Perennials

This plant is very popular because it does not disappear after it has reached adulthood, instead it remains without flowers and what remains above the ground resists all year long. This flower produces seeds but you do not have to collect them because they will fall on the ground and start growing as soon as the warm weather begins.

How to take care of them

There are many varieties of perennials and they all have different care instructions. When you buy them ask the person who sells them how they have to be taken care of, if you don´t want to ask you can read the instructions that come with the plant. For a good documentation on perennials you should buy gardening books.

The first thing you should start with is prepare the soil. Make sure you fertilize it, but not with fertilizer because some species of perennials don´t like it, you should use natural compost. Next make sure you have eliminated all the weeds from the area then start planting the flowers closer together so as to force the weeds that remained out.

Bachelor’s button

This flower is not so long living as the perennials, they last only one season. However, they do resist in the ground through their seeds, this meaning that the main flower dies but in the spring other flowers will appear from the seeds the main flower has produced in the fall.

This annual flowers prefer lots of sun and a moist soil. When you want to plant them and you want to pull them out of the containers make sure you do not damage the root of the flower because if that happens you may lose that flower. The proper time to plant them is when there is no sun, when it is cloudy or when the sun is not so powerful. They do like water so make sure you don´t forget to water them on a regular basis.
